[So that was a whole meal with absolutely no meat at all. Dan supposes that he feels full. At least not so running on empty. Now they were heading out, maybe not back.

The cuffs were old. Being cuffed even older. Being cuffed to Adrian and every strained polite conversation attempt was tiring. There had to be a loop hole. Maybe it would lessen around midnight? Maybe it could be broken somehow. By somebody. Two people seemed to accomplish the impossible or at least the least possible things. Rorschach and Jon, and only Rorschach seemed attainable.

Dan could stand Rorschach. He was honest enough with himself to say that he couldn't stand being cuffed to him either, but he could stand Rorschach more than he could stand Adrian right now and Jon.]

[If Rorschach was going to be sentimental about someone, it would be his former partner. That was one way of looking at it from the outside at least. Combine it with an unwillingness to leave Dan handcuffed to a possible homosexual, and you had a Rorschach ready to offer his help.

Of course, wanting to help and little niceties like knocking instead of breaking and entering weren't really a priority for him. It never hurt to consider Veidt's security anyway. You never knew when you'd need to get into or out of a place quickly.]
